Professors with a Purpose presents:
Democracy on the Precipice:
Threats to American Democracy and How We Can Overcome Them
Tuesday, January 17 | 6pm-7:30pm | $33
Featuring Professor Archon Fung, the Director, Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation and Winthrop Laflin McCormack Professor of Citizenship and Self-Government at the Harvard Kennedy School.
American democracy faces obvious threats that few had imagined just five or ten years ago. Archon Fung will discuss some self-evident indicators of democratic fragility such as election denial, political violence, and hyper-polarization and the deeper trends and causes of the political weaknesses that we see today. Most importantly, we will explore paths to modernizing and reimagining our democratic institutions to make them more robust, inclusive, and responsive.
Evening includes one drink ticket, appetizers and speakers.
