Harvard Club of San Diego

On Sunday, June 12, 2016, eighteen local high school juniors were honored at our Annual Harvard Prize Book reception in Balboa Park. The Harvard Club of San Diego is distinct amongst Harvard alumni clubs in that each year we honor the Prize Book recipients at a special reception in addition to presenting them with a book.  Harvard Prize Book winners are students selected by their school counselors.  These students are chosen for their academic excellence, a high level of personal achievement, as well as integrity of character.  The list of  this year’s Prize Book winners can be seen below.

This was the second year that we held the Outstanding Junior Award competition in conjunction with the Harvard Prize Book.  Students submitted a video response to a quote by a notable Harvard alumnus.  This year’s winner was Owen Schafer from Coronado High School! In response to this year’s theme of “Being the 

Change that We Seek”, Owen demonstrated how he has impacted our community by establishing a STEM and sailing program.

2016 Prize Book Winners:
