A Fireside Chat with Mike Nowak

Please join the Penn Club of San Diego on Wednesday, June 17th for our next biotech pharmaceuticals and life sciences event. Wharton MBA graduate Mike Nowak shares his career story and lessons learned along the way from physics undergrad and Ph.D. to running technology startups, his transition to business and investing after MBA at Wharton and now investing and consulting in the biotech and broader healthcare space. This will be followed by a happy hour with light snacks and beverages provided and a great opportunity to learn from Mike and network with fellow alumni in the life sciences.

Dr. Nowak is an experienced venture capitalist and healthcare institutional investor, serial entrepreneur, and licensed investment banker. He received his BA in Physics from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where he was a College Scholar, a PhD in Physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and went on to complete post-doctoral fellowships at Bell Labs (Bellcore), Princeton University, and at the CEA research labs in Saclay and the University of Paris VI (Jussieu, now Sorbonne University), in Paris, France. Mike also earned an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  Mike has held numerous CEO positions in early-stage startups, including spinouts from Xerox PARC and Stanford University. His experience includes work at McKinsey & Company and the Advanced Technology Program at NIST, US Department of Commerce. He is currently Managing Director at BJC Capital Advisors where he works with early-stage life sciences companies to raise institutional capital (Series A, B, etc.) and/or facilitate strategic partnerships with pharma or execute M&A.
