Lawn Bowling Challenge Match, Saturday, March 28th at 12.30pm at the San Diego Lawn Bowling Club in Balboa Park, at the corner of Balboa Drive and El Prado when Oxbridge and IvyPlus teams will compete for bragging rights. Parking is available on Balboa Drive, though there will now be a charge for parking. No experience is necessary - expert coaching will be at hand. Each side will have multiple teams of two or three players. There will be a $30.00 charge per player, collected on the day. If you register and then find that you need to cancel, PLEASE let us know asap, so we can get an exact count of participants.

Spectators are welcome at no charge.  A no-host, casual late lunch  opportunity will be available at a local hostelry, TBA.

Lawn Bowling, unlike 10-pin bowling, is played outdoors on a very finely trimmed grass lawn, with approx. 5-inch diameter "bowls".  The bowls are slightly heavier on one side than the other so that as you bowl them, they curve from a straight line towards the end of their travel and make it much more interesting that just doing a straight shot. A lengthy explanation of Lawn Bowling can be found HERE

Do plan to come and join us for this ever-popular event.  For more information contact Brian Beeston, Secretary, Oxford & Cambridge Society of San Diego at bepbeeston@gmail.com
