February Hike at Black Mountain (saturday)
Join us Saturday, February 24 for a morning hike at Black Mountain via Nighthawk Trail Loop! This 4.5 mile hike, near Rancho Penasquitos, is considered a moderately challenging route. It takes approximately 2.5 hours at a leisurely pace. We will meet at Hilltop Community Park where you will find ample parking. Departure time is at 8:00am from the trailhead located near the parking lot. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times. This is a popular and fun route so we are likely to encounter many other hikers and bikers.As stated earlier, the hike is considered moderate. There are a couple steep uphills with occasional rocky terrain, making trekking poles and hiking staffs useful but certainly not necessary. This loop trail will lead us back to Hilltop Park where we will briefly enjoy some post hike refreshments.
