2014 Harvard Book Prize Reception

Twenty outstanding juniors from around San Diego County were awarded the Harvard Book Prize at a reception on June 1st

Through the tireless work of a small and dedicated committee of alumni, led by Committee Chair Ronnie Friedman-Barone, the Harvard Club of San Diego was pleased to present twenty awards to outstanding juniors in this year's Harvard Book Prize Competition.  Every high school in San Diego and Imperial Counties is invited to nominate one outstanding junior to participate. Over 40 students were nominated for the competition, which involved an essay and a You Tube video.  The HCSD Book Prize Committee is responsible for judging the competition entries and organizing the awards ceremony.

This year's ceremony was held in Balboa Park on Sunday, June 1st.  The students received their books and were recognized alongside their guidance counselors.  Many proud family members were in attendance.

The Harvard Book Prize is part of a greater recruiting effort to encourage some of the top students across San Diego to consider Harvard College for their undergraduate studies.  Members of the HCSD are invited to contribute specifically to support this outstanding program during the membership renewal process, as well as throughout the year.
