Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research

Join us July 10 for a virtual gathering and the opportunity to hear from the winning faculty members of the 2020 Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research.

Join us this Friday, July 10, from 2:45 to 4:00 p.m. (EDT), for a virtual gathering and the opportunity to hear from the winning faculty members of the 2020 Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research.

How can we engineer rapid, reliable tests for COVID-19 before the next wave? What will happen to sea levels as polar ice sheets melt over the next century? How can we use brain imaging to better treat aging-related diseases?

Faculty across Harvard are pursuing the answers to these questions and more with the 2020 Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research, an award program established by James A. Star ’83 and Sara Star and Joshua Friedman ’76, MBA ’80, JD ’82 and Beth Friedman that provides seed funding to high-risk, high-impact projects in the life, physical, and social sciences.

Join us for a virtual gathering on July 10 and hear from the seven winning faculty members about their ambitious and daring new projects.

Friday, July 10
